Equipment

Equipment in the wasteland is essential for survival, protection, and combat. It is divided into eight categories:

  • Ammunition – Energy reserves and bullets that power weapons.
  • Armor – Protection against the dangers of the wasteland.
  • Bionetics – Biological augmentations to enhance intelligence and cognition.
  • Cybernetics – Mechanical enhancements to improve physical capabilities.
  • Gear – Miscellaneous survival tools, trauma kits, and general equipment.
  • Power Armor – Advanced suits of armor used primarily within the Enclave.
  • Vehicles – Various means of transportation across the wasteland.
  • Weapons – Melee and ranged instruments of combat and survival.

Resource Costs

All equipment comes at a cost—whether in Enclave credits, local settlement currency, or salvage. Items are priced between one and five resource dice.

To purchase an item, you roll your resource die the required number of times.

  • If you roll a 1 or 2, the die decreases one step in size.
  • If you successfully roll without running out of resources, you acquire the item.
  • You can mix and match different resource types (currency or salvage) to complete a purchase.

Example Purchase

A d6 currency is used to buy an item with a cost of three dice. The player rolls three times:

  • First roll: 5 (safe)
  • Second roll: 2 (reduces to d4 currency)
  • Third roll: 4 (safe)

The purchase is successful, but the player's currency pool has decreased.

Multiple Resource Types

Players start with Enclave Currency, but as they explore, they will come across other settlement currencies and salvage.

Trading Salvage for Currency

  • Higher-value salvage can be traded for currency at settlements.
  • A larger die of salvage (e.g., d6) can be exchanged to increase a lower-value currency die (e.g., from d0 to d1).
  • Smaller salvage amounts cannot be exchanged, but they can be used for direct purchases.

Example Conversion

  • A d6 salvage can be exchanged to increase a d0 currency to d1 currency.
  • A d4 salvage cannot increase a d2 currency because the values are equal.

Dividing Salvage Among the Team

When a team finds salvage, they collectively receive a single die (e.g., d6).

  • Players take turns claiming from the pool until no more can be divided.
  • Leftover salvage is abandoned unless the group finds a way to carry or store it.

Salvage from Creatures

  • Most creatures provide d1 salvage (meat, hides, parts).
  • After collecting salvage from multiple sources, the total is rounded down to the nearest die size before distribution.
  • Example: Five Rovers (d1 each) would be worth only d4 salvage when combined.
