Ancestries
After World War III, the world descended into chaos, but at that time, there was only one known ancestry: Humans.
However, when the walls between realms shattered, magic surged back into the world, allowing six new ancestries to emerge. These newcomers were split into two factions:
- The Light Fae – Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes
- The Dark Fae – Orcs, Goblins, and Trolls
For forty years, these factions waged war, while humans were caught in the middle. But as time passed, negotiations led to peace, and Enclave Sentius became the first unified city, where all seven ancestries now live side by side.
What Your Ancestry Means for You
Even after decades of mingling, many ancestries retain strong cultural identities. Children are still raised in the traditions of their people, shaping their strengths, weaknesses, and natural inclinations.
Every character gains an innate strength and a minor weakness based on their ancestry—this reflects biological and cultural traits rather than limiting character builds.
Each ancestry also speaks English and their ancestral language, reflecting the deep-rooted heritage of their people.
Ancestry Strengths & Weaknesses
Ancestry | Strength | Weakness |
---|---|---|
Dwarf | Endurance | Agility |
Elf | Agility | Intuition |
Gnome | Reasoning | Willpower |
Goblin | Agility | Strength |
Human | None | None |
Orc | Presence | Willpower |
Troll | Strength | Reasoning |
Ancestry Traits & Customization
Ancestries shape your character but don’t limit them.
How Does This Work Mechanically?
✔ Each ancestry gets a +1 level boost in their Strength Ability.
✔ Each ancestry gets a -1 level penalty in their Weakness Ability.
✔ Your Primary Abilities still determine your maximum skill level.
This means that a Gnome warrior or a Troll scholar is absolutely possible—they just develop differently than an Elf warrior or a Human scholar.
Unique Ancestry Traits
Each ancestry has unique traits reflecting their heritage, physiology, and culture. These traits enhance their playstyle and create further customization.
For example:
✔ Dwarves have an eye for construction, better than others.
✔ Elves possess magical inclination.
✔ Gnomes are natural tinkerers and problem-solvers.
✔ Orcs command natural authority and presence.
These ancestry-specific traits will be covered in Ancestry Traits, allowing players to lean into or subvert their ancestry’s natural talents.
Languages
Every character knows English as the common tongue, but each ancestry also retains their own language.
Ancestry | Language |
---|---|
Dwarves | Dwarven |
Elves | Elven |
Gnomes | Gnomish |
Goblins | Gobbic |
Humans | English |
Orcs | Orcish |
Trolls | Trollish |
While most people in Enclave Sentius speak multiple languages, some ancestry-specific knowledge—such as ancient texts, secret traditions, or cultural nuances—might only be accessible to fluent speakers.
