Hollowborn Description

Hollowborns are eerie, otherworldly humanoids with a gaunt, spectral appearance as if they were partially unfinished or partially eroded by time. Their bodies are lean but not frail, with elongated limbs and fingers that taper into fine points, giving them an unsettling grace.

Their skin is smooth yet unnatural, ranging from pale ivory to deep obsidian, sometimes with subtle swirling patterns, cracks, or hollowed-out gaps that seem to shift in the proper lighting. Some Hollowborns appear as missing pieces, with small void-like holes in their forearms, chests, or backs that do not bleed but instead reveal a faint, swirling mist or stardust-like glow within.

Their eyes are hollow voids, often lacking pupils or irises, instead filled with a soft glow of faint blue, violet, or silver light. Some Hollowborn have fragmented eyes, resembling shattered glass or cracks, in reality, their glow flickering in and out.

If present, their hair is wispy and weightless, moving as if caught in an unseen current. It is often black, silver, or pure white, with an ethereal shimmer. Some Hollowborn, particularly the older ones, appear completely bald, with their heads smooth and featureless, further adding to their eerie aesthetic.

Their voices carry a strange resonance, often echoing faintly as if they are speaking through layers of time or across dimensions. When they whisper, their voices seem to bypass the ears and go straight to the mind, making it hard to ignore them.

Their movements are fluid but unnatural, almost like they are slightly detached from reality, with momentary blurs or afterimages trailing behind them when they move too fast. Some describe the presence of a Hollowborn as feeling like standing near a door that leads somewhere that shouldn’t exist.

Unlike other Fae, Hollowborns have a distinct lack of a proper shadow, or their shadows appear disconnected from them, shifting independently in ways that make others uneasy.

When injured, Hollowborn does not bleed in the traditional sense. Instead, cracks form along their bodies, leaking a mist-like or glowing substance before slowly knitting themselves back together. Their wounds seem to fade rather than heal as if they were never there.

Some Hollowborn, particularly those touched by Magionite or the remnants of the war, have visible runic scars or shifting symbols on their skin—marks that flicker with hidden meaning, perhaps remnants of their old selves before the war blurred their place in the world.
