Psychic Powers


Below is the list of psychic powers and their effects. Each power group has a rating of A, B, or C. Before choosing the C rating, you must select the A rating first, then the B rating. You only need to be a Professional in power to learn an additional power through advancements, but if you take the trait to learn an extra power, you can be Apprentice. The new power does not have to be in the same category as the existing power.

Description of Powers

    • Confusion: Make the target do something randomly.
    • Charm: Make the target a friend.
    • Dominate: Take control of the target's actions.
  • Detection
    • Locate Power: Discern where power is located.
    • Locate Thing: Discern where a thing might be.
    • Locate Person: Discern where a person might be.
  • Electrokinesis
    • Drain or Recharge Device: Charge or drain an electrionic device.
    • Throw Electrical: Toss electrical energy at targets.
    • Shield Electrical: Create a shield of electricla and energy.
  • Empathy
  • Calm Emotions: Reduce hostilities.
  • Bolster Emotions: Remove fear and other conditions.
  • Healing: Repair damage to the body.
  • Hydrokinesis
    • Create or Evaporate Water: Evaporate or create water.
    • Throw Water: Toss water at targets.
    • Englulf: Cover the target in water.
  • Mind
    • Illusion: Create the illusion of image, sound, or smell for the target.
    • Wipe: Remove a memory from the target.
    • Modify: Change a memory for the target.
  • Projection
    • Light: Create a sphere of light.
    • Project Blades: Create a psychic powered blade.
    • Project Pain: Send the feeling of pain into a target.
  • Pyrokinesis
    • Control Fires: Extinguish or spark fires.
    • Throw Fire: Toss fire at targets.
    • Shield Fire: Create a shield of fire and heat.
  • Telekinesis
    • Throw Object: Toss an object at targets.
    • Shield Kinetic: Create a shield that blocks kinetic attacks.
    • Flight: The ability to fly.
  • Telepathy
    • Understand Language: Understand all languages.
    • Reading: Read a target's mind.
    • Talking: Set up communication between targets on a subconscious level.

Control

This is the art of controlling the person's mind to make them do something you want.

Confusion (A Rating)

You cause the creature; if it fails, resistance will check, causing it to lose track of what is happening and act confusedly. They lash out at the closest creature or do nothing. Roll a d12. They do nothing on a 1-4; on a 5-12, they attack the nearest target, even if it is an ally. It gets to make a new resistance discipline check when it is struck.

Charm (B Rating)

If the creature fails, its resistance discipline checks; it considers you an ally and will protect you, but not your companions, until it is hit; at this point, it gets another resistance check. If they pass the resistance check, they know who was trying to charm them.

Dominate (C Rating)

You take control of the target creature and tell it what to do on its next marker. The target gets a resistance discipline check to resist and can make another resistance check at the end of each initiative marker.

Detection

Locating sources of something from how much construction a person has to an actual person or thing.

Locate Power (A Rating)

You scan the surrounding area, looking for construction sources; the larger the concentration, the more there is magic around. While in a person, this could be psychic ability instead of sorcery magic or miracle powers, it is likely the person needs further investigation.

Locate Thing (B Rating)

You can scan the area for a specific thing you are familiar with; a holo-display of the thing is enough. This allows you to pinpoint the location of the thing hiding in a particular crate, for example. The radius is limited.

Locate Person (C Rating)

You can scan the area looking for a person you are familiar with; a holo-display of the person is enough. This allows you to pinpoint the exact location of the person hiding in a crowded room, for example. The radius is limited. The target gets to make a resistance discipline check to fool your senses.

Electrokinesis

The power to manipulate electrical currents.

Drain or Recharge Device (A Rating)

With a burst of electrical power from the psychic, all electronic devices either recharge their power to full or get drained of all their power. This effect is within a radius of the psychic. If power is draining, nuclear reactors do not drain; they just shut off for one round, and all electronic devices get to make a resistance stamina check. Their skill is based on the type of device; regular devices have d6; shielded devices have d8; power armor, vehicles, and robots get d10; cybernetics get d12.

Throw Electrical (B Rating)

You throw electrical arcs around, hitting a target or targets of your choice. The damage is always resisted with a resistance stamina check. Success reduces the damage by half, and a critical reduces it by half again (or a quarter of the original damage)

You create an energy shield in front of you that stops all electrical and energy attacks from passing through it. This adds to the armor you wear, but only to the kind of damage.

The power to feel the emotions of other people.

Calm Emotions (A Rating)

You can calm others' feelings and reduce hostilities within subjects by channeling your emotions.

This power can channel your emotions to end conditions on the subject.

This power channels your energy into a person to heal their damage.

Hydrokinesis

The power to pull water from the moisture in the air.

Create or Evaporate Water (A Rating)

Pulling water out of the air is a great party trick, but it is also essential if you are stranded and need supplies. The water is pure and fresh. You can target enough for yourself or supply additional targets for a one-day supply. You can also do the reverse, which is to cause water to evaporate from a supply. This causes vulnerabilities to the next source of damage when used on a water elemental; the elemental would get a resistance stamina check.

Engulf (C Rating)

You surround the target(s) in water. Once encased, they are unable to breathe air and will drown. The target must make a resistance stamina check to fight through the water to get breathable air. Note: This is ineffectual on creatures that can breathe in water. Also, bathing the target(s) is a side effect.

Mind

The most potent effects of the mind make people forget or remember something false.

Illusion (A Rating)

You place the image, sound, smell, or combination of the three into the target minds, and they believe they are seeing, hearing, and smelling what you want them to. This is resisted with resistance will check, and they see through the illusion of a successful resistance.

Like Modify, you affect the target's memories, but instead of changing them, you delete them, leaving a foggy sense of time missing for the target. This is resisted with resistance will check.

Projection

The power to control psychic energy in a projection and into physical structures.

Light (A Rating)

You generate an orb of light that hovers within a few feet of you. It provides light within a radius, with dim light another range increment after the bright light.

By projecting energy into a physical structure, you create a bladed weapon the size of a short sword.

You project your thoughts into a target and cause them pain. It is blocked by armor.

The power to control fire, both in safety and destruction.

Control Fires (A Rating)

You can cause a fire to spring up and burn naturally or take an existing fire in a radius and snuff it out. When used on a fire elemental, it gets to make a resistance stamina check or be vulnerable to the next attack against it.

You throw waves of flame around, hitting a target or targets of your choice. The damage is always resisted with a resistance stamina check. Success reduces the damage by half, and a critical reduces it by half again (or a quarter of the original damage)

You create an energy shield in front of you that stops all fire, heat, and plasma energy attacks from passing through it. This adds to the armor you wear, but only to the kind of damage.

The power to move physical objects with your mind.

Throw Object (A Rating)

You throw nearby objects into your target or targets of your choice. The damage is always resisted with a resistance stamina check. Success reduces the damage by half, and a critical reduces it by half again (or a quarter of the original damage)

You create an energy shield in front of you that stops all fast-moving kinetic attacks from passing through it, like pistol melee weapons. This adds to the armor you wear, but only to the kind of damage.
